About the Role:

The Head Sushi Chef is responsible for leading the sushi kitchen operations to deliver exceptional culinary experiences that reflect authenticity, creativity, and high standards of quality. This role involves overseeing the preparation and presentation of sushi dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence in every plate served. The Head Sushi Chef will manage kitchen staff, coordinate with suppliers for the freshest ingredients, and maintain strict hygiene and safety standards. Additionally, this position requires developing new menu items that align with current trends while honoring traditional sushi techniques. Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a sushi chef with at least 3 years in a professional kitchen environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in traditional and contemporary sushi preparation techniques.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
• Ability to lead and manage a culinary team effectively.
• Valid food handler certification or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal culinary training or certification in Japanese cuisine or sushi preparation.
• Familiarity with sourcing sustainable seafood and specialty ingredients.
• Proficiency in menu development and cost control.
• Multilingual skills, particularly in Japanese, to facilitate supplier and cultural communication.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise the sushi kitchen team, providing training and guidance to ensure skill development and adherence to quality standards.
• Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes with precision, maintaining consistency in taste, texture, and appearance.
• Manage inventory and order fresh seafood and other ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
• Develop and refine sushi menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative recipes to attract and retain customers.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations within the kitchen environment.
• Collaborate with restaurant management to plan special events, promotions, and menu changes.
• Monitor kitchen operations to maintain efficiency, quality control, and timely service during peak hours.
