Job Description

The Tampa Bay Sun Foundation, the charitable arm of Tampa Bay Sun FC, is seeking creative, community-driven individuals to join our Marketing and Social Media Internship Program for the 2026/2027 season through the end of playoffs.

This is a unique opportunity for students passionate about making a difference through sports-based community outreach, nonprofit marketing, and impact-driven storytelling. Interns will gain valuable experience in social media management, content creation, event promotion, and digital communications, all within the context of nonprofit work and community engagement in the Greater Tampa Bay area.

This internship is eligible for college credit. A stipend will be provided for hours worked beyond required academic credit hours.

About the Tampa Bay Sun Foundation
The Foundation is committed to uplifting the Tampa Bay community through youth empowerment, education, inclusion, and access to sport. Through partnerships, we deliver programs that create lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Marketing
  • Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling content across Foundation social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn).
  • Support the development of campaign strategies to promote community programs, fundraising efforts, and special events.
  • Monitor analytics and engagement trends to help refine social strategy.
Content Creation & Capture
  • Capture photos and videos during Foundation events to use across social channels and internal reports.
  • Assist with editing short videos, creating reels, and designing basic graphics using tools like Canva or Adobe Express.
  • Work with the club’s media team to ensure consistency with Tampa Bay Sun FC brand guidelines.
Storytelling & Communications
  • Write compelling content that highlights the Foundation’s mission and impact, including:
    • Blog posts
    • Donor spotlights
    • Event recaps
    • Email newsletter content
  • Interview program participants, volunteers, and partners to develop authentic stories that connect with our audience.
Community Event Promotion
  • Support the marketing of Foundation-led events such as youth clinics, school visits, donation drives, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Help build visibility for community programs by designing flyers, writing press blurbs, and contributing to event run-of-show content.
Team Collaboration
  • Attend weekly marketing and Foundation team meetings to brainstorm content ideas, review campaign progress, and align on goals.
  • Assist with research on marketing trends, nonprofit campaigns, and local outreach strategies.

What We’re Looking For
  • Enrolled in a college/university program (marketing, communications, nonprofit management, PR, or related field).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong grasp of social media platforms.
  • Passionate about community impact, equity, and promoting access to sport.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic photography/video skills and familiarity with content tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or CapCut is a plus.
  • Interest in sports, storytelling, and giving back to the Tampa Bay community.

WHAT'S IT LIKE?
First, it's a lot of fun... sports are fun! They're also a lot of work. We'll point you in the right direction, and you'll be given a lot of responsibility and you'll own your area. You'll help build amazing events for our community. You'll make great connections and learn a lot about the sports business.

Let's talk about the time commitment. Depending on the role, it may require more than eight hours of work in a given day, particularly event days. All interns work every home game. Depending on the role, you may have some non-game day hours (some remote), and you may cover training sessions (as needed).

These internships are best suited for students who can get college credit and/or who are looking to get their foot in the door in the extremely competitive sports industry.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
