Position Description Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in West Hartford, CT. In this role, the Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting the Product Development Team in simple product designs through CAD modeling and drawing documentation. Functions include working with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers on assignments that support testing of products, maintenance of products, customer related issues, and general product engineering challenges. Currently enrolled in‑or recently completed BSME or BSEE. Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skill. Willing to provide engineering support required to sustain current product offering and evaluate new product designs, including performing product testing in the laboratory. Proficiency in SolidWorks, including development of assemblies using part models of components. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time. Prepare written and verbal reports. Conduct engineering studies/investigations. Preferred but not required is familiarity with usage of a network analyzer, hand‑held cable analyzer (i.e. Fluke), and multimeter.
