Job Description
Our client, an A-rated insurance carrier, is continuing to expand their underwriting department and is seeking a results-driven Senior Commercial Lines Production Underwriter to support their Western Pennsylvania territory. In this role, you will play a key part in underwriting commercial lines business, building strong agency relationships, and driving profitable growth within your assigned market. This position is ideal for a strategic, analytical underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make sound underwriting decisions independently. This role offers the ability to work remotely, with a company vehicle which can be used for personal use, and occasional travel throughout the Western Pennsylvania territory.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite and manage a portfolio of commercial lines accounts, ensuring profitability and growth objectives are achieved.
Evaluate new and renewal submissions for coverage, pricing, and acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers to generate new business opportunities.
Provide high-level service and underwriting support to agency partners, including education and guidance on underwriting processes.
Conduct agency visits to review books of business, identify growth opportunities, and share market insights.
Collaborate with internal teams, including product management and claims, to support effective policy management.
Monitor market trends and competitive conditions to adjust underwriting strategies and meet business goals.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal underwriting standards.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in Commercial Lines Production Underwriting.
Experienced underwriting profitable business within the Admitted Middle Market space.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to partner effectively with agencies.
Salary & Benefits:
$120,000 – $160,000 base salary plus a lucrative 20-40% bonus structure
