Sports Research Athlete Insights Intern The New Balance Sports Research Team is a multidisciplinary group of innovators focused on pushing the boundaries of human performance through scientific exploration. We deliver authentic, data driven insights to New Balance teams with the mission of creating best-in-class products and experiences. We utilize our state of the art 17,000 square foot research space, consisting of running tracks, turf & court surfaces, body scanners, environmental chamber, high speed force treadmills, and much more to answer tomorrow's footwear and apparel questions. We are seeking a one-year research intern who is action oriented, adaptable, collaborative, inclusive and drives results within our innovation research portfolio in both human performance and perception. The candidate will contribute to New Balance's innovative and entrepreneurial culture by analyzing the boundaries of possibility while leading projects that will maximize athlete performance. The start date for this position is Tuesday June 2nd, 2026. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Contribute to the vision, strategy, and implementation of our innovation running and sport research portfolios with a strong background in qualitative and quantitative consumer research. Participate as a creative scientist evaluating new technologies, methods, and analysis techniques to help advance insights. Determine best practices for answering specific research questions and lead conversations with athletes or assist in drafting and designing survey questionnaires to answer those questions. Analyze a wide variety of perception data (one on one discussions, focus groups, surveys) to uncover holistic insights that inspire product creation teams and produce authentic experiences for our consumers. Assist with the creation and delivery of product testing reports to cross‑functional business units and identify key areas for innovation. Work cooperatively on multiple projects simultaneously. Help with participant recruiting efforts. REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: A degree in Marketing, Psychology, or another similar discipline. Demonstrated ability to identify consumer needs and synthesize insights to communicate the bigger picture and inform product decisions. Desire to participate in novel research to elevate performance with footwear and apparel. Strong organizational and time management skills. Confidence in moderating focus groups and one on one interview. Experience with survey programming and analysis preferred (e.g., Qualtrics, Cmix, SPSS, Excel, Marketsight). Sports Research Lab, Brighton MA Only Pay Range: $25.15 - $31.45 - $37.75 Hourly (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)
