Job Description

We seek a highly motivated, experienced Controller to be based at our McDavid, FL Lumber mill. The Controller, reporting to the Mill Manager, and indirectly reports to the Regional Finance Accountant, is a key part of plant management providing analytical support for all financial decisions.

Principal Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

• Responsible for managing site month end close and reporting, all reconciliations and account analysis.
• Responsible for ensuring site inventory counts are being performed and variances explained.
• Responsible for completing weekly/monthly/annual forecasts for the site and corporate FP&A.
• Responsible for completing weekly cost & other ad hoc analysis to assist the site in meeting its cost targets.

  Internal Controls

• Responsible for adhering compliance with current internal controls
• Support the General Manager in enforcing site and company policies and procedures.
• Support internal and external testing as required

Process Management

• Support West Fraser centralized or site accounts payable, payroll and fiber procurement and as needed, residuals processes.
• Drive operational and finance process improvement at the mill

Candidate – Experience and Competencies

To be effective in this role, the candidate will possess the following experiences and competencies:

• 4-year degree, in Business, Accounting or Finance. CPA designation or working towards one preferred.
• Related work experience of 3-5 years is required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Flexible, detail-oriented, accurate, able to prioritize and meet deadlines. Results oriented
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Supervisory Experience preferred.
• Ability to forge working relationships at all levels in an organization.
• Experience with Sarbanes Oxley controls preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Oracle financial systems preferred and must be proficient in MS Office
